Movement Disorders Fellowship (Minnesota)

Program description

The one-year Movement Disorders Fellowship at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, offers a rich clinical and research experience, including:

  • The diagnosis and treatment of the full spectrum of movement disorders, such as:
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Deep brain stimulation
  • Training in movement disorders neurophysiology and the therapeutic administration of botulinum toxin for dystonia, hemifacial spasm, and related disorders
  • Research opportunities in neuroepidemiology, neurophysiology, immunohistochemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, basic neuroscience, clinical treatment trials, and genetics

Your fellowship experience will be busy and rewarding, with ample opportunity to observe and investigate all aspects of movement disorders. The research portion of the fellowship is focused on understanding and applying findings to patient treatment.

A second year of fellowship may be considered depending on your clinical and research interests and long-term career goals.

Program history

The Movement Disorders Fellowship at Mayo Clinic began in 1993. Since that time, several fellows have completed their training in the program. It is anticipated that one fellow will complete this fellowship annually.
